College professor and her two children die in car accident in Leon

Another tragic car accident occurred on the intersection of the boulevard Torres Landa and calle Oceano Atlantico in the community of Santa Maria del Granjeno, in León on April 16, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. when a professor of the University of León and her two children ended up dead, and her husband seriously injured.

Lilivet Saavedra who was a professor at the University of Guanajuato in Leon and her husband Ernesto Collazo González left their home in the neighborhood of “Cumbres de la Pradera”, along with their three children, four minutes later, the tragedy occurred, and Lilivet and two of her children lost their lives.

According to witnesses, a Ford pickup truck driven by 27-year-old Cristóbal C., who was accompanied by a woman, presumably his wife, was speeding and didn’t stop at a red light, crashing against the compact VW car where Professor Saavedra and her family were traveling.

According to am.com.mx, Cristóbal tried to flee the scene in another vehicle, but was stopped by residents of the area who witnessed the incident (watch video).
