On Sunday April 23, the Criminal Investigation Agency along with the Guanajuato Public Security Secretariat carried out an operation in order to dismantle a local gas station that was being supplied with stolen fuel. This business is located in the southern part of the state capital.

According to information from the Attorney General’s Office, the gas station number 4870 was being supplied from a warehouse nearby, using hosepipes, and trucks adapted to transport the stolen gasoline. The warehouse and the vehicles were secured by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Specialized Unit in Theft and Vehicle Recovery, who also detained two suspects.

The secured evidence is the following:

  • Five tractor units
  • Three trailers
  • One hopper
  • Two adapted pick-up trucks
  • Several recent model vans.

One of the vehicles, a color blue Kenworth truck, was reported as stolen in the city of Comonfort. It has a metal tank of 20 thousand liters of capacity and was caught unloading the illegal hydrocarbons directly to the storage cisterns of the gas station, through a hose of more than 40 meters long.

The Prosecutor’s Office spokesperson explained: “This vehicle was located in the property located next to the service station and was connected directly to the fuel tanks through a hose several meters long. This business was selling the illegal fuel at the official price. The operation took place as part of a stolen fuel sale investigation in research file 40482/2017”.
