Twenty missing children have been reported in Guanajuato

IRAPUATO, Gto — Twenty children have gone missing in the state of Guanajuato, in the last three years, with a total of seventeen Amber alerts that have been activated in the state during that time.

An AMBER Alert or a Child Abduction Emergency (SAME code: CAE) is a child abduction alert system.

The most recent one was activated on February 26, 2017.  And of the first Amber alerts was issued on February 5, 2014 when 10 year-old Kimberli went missing in Irapuato after her parents were killed in “Libramiento Norte”.

Celaya is the municipality where more Ámber alerts have been activated, with five cases; and Guanajuato city comes in second place .

In fact, there are three missing children currently in the city of Guanajuato, while in Irapuato, two Amber alerts are active, and two other  are kids are also missing in the municipality of Comonfort.


On February 5, 2014, Kimberli Alisse Torres Rodriguez disappeared and her aunt filled the complaint in order to activate the Ámber Alert.

At that time, Kimberli was only two years old. The last time she was seen, was with her parents Ana Lidia and Luis Roberto, who were found dead one day later, on February 6, 2017, since that day her whereabouts are unknown.

It is worth mentioning that, out of 13 Ámber alerts that have been activated in Guanajuato, 11 have been succesfully solved as the missing children have been found, and only two remain unsolved, although the search continues.
