According to several news outlets, “Cloned” milk is being distributed in the city of León, Guanajuato. This situation was denounced by local consumers before state and municipal authorities.
The first complaint was filed by a resident of León who bought -without noticing- a one-liter pack of milk that had no expiration date or lot printed on the carton.
In an interview, the man stated that when he poured the milk in a glass, he realized that it looked like water. When he tried to check if the product was expired, he noticed the expiration date was nowhere to be found on the cardboard package, so he decided to file an official complaint.

According to a statement by local authorities, people without official identifications of any milk company are showing up at different stores selling the product below the regular price.
“There will be a comprehensive investigation in every milk outlet, not only in the city of León but throughout the state”, said Health Secretary Daniel Alberto Díaz Martínez in response to the complaint that El Sol de León published on Monday April 24, in regard to this issue.
“Of course when there are situations like this where our population is at risk, our department of health risk prevention has the instruction to go out and conduct the corresponding research in order to find out what is happening and who is responsible for this crime.”
The official concluded that the investigation began on Monday April 24, so he asked the population to take the basic precautions to avoid buying a dairy product in bad conditions, by always checking the expiration date and lot.
The dairy company that has been a victim of this case of “cloned packaging”, informed through its quality control department they will initiate a thorough investigation to determine what situation prevails regarding their products in this city. The criminal file number that was opened for this case is 895549.
It is worth mentioning that no arrests have been made yet in relation to these irregularities.
