4,000 “pirate” CDs and DVDs confiscated in San Miguel de Allende

On Thursday May 4th, the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic (PGR) through the Deputy Attorney Regional Control, Criminal Procedures and Injunction (SCRPPA) carried out an operation to secure cloned film material in the historic downtwon area of San Miguel de Allende.

Agents of the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) in collaboration with State Public Security Officers (FSPE) arrived to the downtown area with orders to confiscate cloned material, ensuring a total of 4,696 illegal DVDs and CDs, all of it considered “pirate” material.

As part of the operation, the evidence was taken before the Public Prosecutor’s Office Federal, head of the Unit of Attention and Immediate Determination in San Miguel de Allende, with the purpose to integrate the correspondant file on copyright law infringement.

On Wednesday April 26, San Miguel Times also reported that “Cloned” milk was being distributed in the city of León, Guanajuato. This situation was denounced by local consumers before state and municipal authorities.
