Leon stadium owned by private sector not municipality

LEÓN – Roberto Zermeño won the litigation for the ownership of the León football stadium, home of the Club Leon of the MX League.

The resolution of the third and last instance of the legal suit was given and by majority of votes the winner was Roberto Zermeño and his partner Héctor González.

Three Guanajuato judges ruled in favor of the owner of the Leon Football Club.

Judge Jorge López Campos, Judge David del Toro Arreola and Judge Juan Solórzano Zavala, determined that Roberto Zermeño owns the León stadium, and not the Municipality.

Hector Lopez Santillana, Mayor of León, said that they will not give up so easy and pointed out that there are still other legal procedures that the City will use in order to recover the stadium.

Lopez Santillana declared that one of the options is to expropriate the stadium, and stated that he will meet with Jesús Martínez Murguía, president of Club León, and current tenant of the stadium to talk about this situation.
