May the 4th be with you: Querétaro celebrates “Star Wars day”

In the framework of CONQUE 2017, the largest festival on comics and entertainment in Central México that took place in Querétaro: local residents celebrated the 40th anniversary of Star Wars, with a magnificent parade, wearing customs of a Galaxy far, far away.

For this occasion, the State Congress Center hosted an interesting exhibition displaying hundreds of official items, iconic accessories and emblematic characters of this four-decade old science fiction saga, one of the most successful franchises in the history of cinematography

The original “Star Wars” film, written and directed by George Lucas and starring Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, hit movie theaters in 1977. Since then, 11 “Star Wars” movies have been released, sparking a devoted worldwide fan base and generating billions of dollars in ticket sales and branded merchandise.

In this celebration, the Star Wars exhibition took place at the convention center of this city, drawing fans from all over the Bajio region, gathering a good number of enthusiasts disguised to paid homage to this pop culture iconic series. This was a visual spectacle that astonished more than one in the city of Queretaro.

For this year’s event, dozens of “Star Wars” fans dressed like Darth Vader, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, Yoda, Kylo Ren, Boba Fett, Chewbacca, R2-D2, B-B-8 and Han Solo got together in a tribute to this famous saga.
