SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE — On the night of Wednesday May 24, four people were brutally murdered and one more resulted with severe injures during an intense gunfire attack on the San Miguel de Allende – Celaya highway, near the “Express Nieto” gas station.
The facts occurred at 10:30 p.m. in the neighborhood of “Villa de los Frailes”, when a group of criminals carried out an attack against several taxi drivers, killing four of them right on the scene and leaving one more seriously injured.
Upon hearing gunfire, several residents of “Villa de los Frailes” called emergency number 911, and minutes later, federal, state and municipal authorities arrived on site in order to aid the survivors and carry out the proper investigations. The area was yellow taped immediately.
Due to this incident, the San Miguel de Allende – Celaya highway was immediately closed, generating an intense traffic jam in the four lanes in direction to Celaya.
Paramedics took care of the injured man, who received a gun shot in one leg, while local authorities confirmed the death of the other four men.
A taxi with license plate number AL-0546 was found at the crime scene, however it hasn’t been specified if this vehicle has any relation with the attack, and absolutely nobody had been arrested in relation with any of this terrible crime so far.
