GUANAJUATO, Gto — Miguel Márquez Márquez, Governor of Guanajuato, said that he is really surprised over the declaration made by former president Vicente Fox, in which he asks him to “to have the courage” to become presidential candidate for the 2018 election.

In this sense, Márquez Márquez made clear that he is focused on Guanajuato, because becoming a presidential candidate is a hard decision that should be well thought, carefully considered and not to be taken lightly.

“I really appreciate the comments made by former president Fox, but right now I’m totally focused on working for my state, and this is my priority. The best thing that can happen to the country and my party is to continue working in unity”, pointed out the Governor.

I think this is a decision that needs to be well thought, and not to be taken lightly”, underlined Miguel Márquez Márquez.

Marquez Márquez also mentioned that he does not know who painted dozens of fences with the legend ‘AníMMMate Miguel’ in different municipalities of Guanajuato, and said that such expressions have not been funded by the state nor the governor.

“It is normal for people of Guanajuato to want a president of the Republic from their homestate, it is completely normal that there are many voices in favor and against, because this is politics”.

I appreciate the expressions, of people who say: “Governor, keep working here and finish your order”, and other ones say “no, go for the presidency”, every citizen has the right to express their thoughts.

“I do not know who is behind this sort of campaign… but in the end, it is the people who are encouraged to do things like that”, said the governor.

Finally, he added: “these ads have been financed by the people with their own resources, the truth is I have not spent one cent on this so-called campaign”.
