New San Miguel de Allende’s Airport will face fierce competition

León, Gto — After the announcement of the construction of an airport in the municipality of San Miguel de Allende, the director of the International Airport of Guanajuato, Enrique Peña Argüelles, declared that this new airport will face great competition, not only by the Guanajuato’s International Airport but also by Queretaro’s Intercontinental Airport.

“The competition between the airports in the region, is always good and especially for passengers who will be the winners. In this case, if the San Miguel’s airport is built, will boost that city and all the nearby municipalities”, said Peña Argüelles.

He assured that one of the advantages that features the International Airport of Guanajuato, is the fact of being the only one in the state able to receive international flights and offer great quality service at the same time.

“Regional airports would be competing on quality, customer service and collective issues as well, we do not know yet how many routes the San Miguel’s airport will have, or the number of destinations, whether they go directly to the United States or if they will be only handling national routes”, commented the director of the Airport International of Guanajuato.

The Airport of San Miguel de Allende is intended as a national project. However, in the near future it could quickly become an international airport as it happened at the beginning with the International Airport of Guanajuato.

The San Miguel International Airport will be the third in the state of Guanajuato, along with the International Airport of Guanajuato and the National Airport Captain Rogelio Castillo in Celaya.
