“Querétaro, the brightest star in Mexico”: Banregio

“Querétaro’s economy is growing up to three times more than the national average and, even surpassing China’s growth due to the attraction of new investments”, said BanRegio’s economic adviser, Juan Carlos Calderón.

Just last year, the state of Querétaro presented an economic growth of about 7.5 percent, while in China, the economy showed a growth of  6.5 percent.

Also, there is another important fact: last year México’s economy just grew about 2 percent. So, Querétaro is growing three times more than the national average.

The economist emphasized that one of the advantages for the growth of Querétaro is the establishment of different types of industries, from aeronautical to automotive industry.

Other factors that help this productive situation are: first, the joint work carried out by the federal, state and municipal governments along with the private initiative and second, the security in the state.

The authorities have boosted the establishment of several industrial clusters, among the most important, we can find the aerospace park as well as several places focused on the automotive sector.

Calderon stated that , in order to keep pace with growth and constant development, more investment is needed in education, as well as in innovation and technology.

Calderon called for the use of private capital to open the doors to the “industries of the future”.

According to data from the Quarterly Indicator of State Economic Activity (ITAEE), Querétaro grew by 7.7 percent during 2015; however, in 2016, their growth fell down to 2.1 percent.

Querétaro had a decrease of -1.3 percent on primary activities (agriculture, livestock, mining, etc.), registered an annual increase of 0.9 percent regarding the secondary activities (manufacturing and industry), though over 3.3 percent in services sector.
