San Miguel’s Vineyards, dreamed destinations to get married

San Miguel de Allende is considered one of the best places to get married, and most couples are choosing the beautiful vineyards located in this cozy city that are surrounded by thousands of vine plants and sheltered by spectacular sunsets…

So, hundreds of young couples are discovering that San Miguel offers the most breathtaking scenarios to carry out the wedding of their dreams.

Getting married in a vineyard is a unique experience, due to the fact that these large fields impregnate the reception with an unforgettable aroma, that makes the beautiful brides feel like inside a dream, and the amazing views make this a one of a kind event.

As he waits for her at the end of the journey, the groom stares at her with a huge smile, while holding in his hand a glass of red wine.

Meanwhile, the guests admire the beautiful scene that takes place under a bohemian sunset that paints the fields with a golden color. Dante Alighieri once said, “the wine sows poetry in the hearts”.

In an interview with Notimex, Guillermo González, manager of the San Miguel de Allende Tourism Council, appointed in 2016 as the best destination in Latin America and third in the world, said that these type of social events have become the main tourist product that the region offers.

González explained that only last year more than 600 weddings took place in different places throughout the city, and a great number of them were carried out in one of the seven vineyards located in this region, such as “Bodega Dos Búhos”.

“This means we have six or seven weddings every weekend and what makes them unique is that they are three-day weddings”, said Gonzalez.

“This kind of wedding starts on a Friday when couples and their guests perform traditional alleyway walks with “estudiantinas” or mariachis, and in some cases accompanied by “mojigangas” (giant cardboard dolls typical from SMA), added the official.

To go along with the local custom, guests cannot miss a glass of wine or a “caballito de mezcal” during these strolls.

“Every Saturday, religious weddings take place in one of the many temples along San Miguel, not only at the parish of San Miguel Arcángel. And then banquets can be held in any of the iconic historical buildings in town, or in one of the haciendas where the vineyards are located”, Guillermo González continued.

As for the cost for carrying out one of these events, it can go from 40 thousand to 100 thousand pesos, or in many cases a lot more than that, depending on what the couple is willing to pay for, and what each vineyard or the tourist promoter has to offer.

After the romantic ceremony, the now married couple poses for the traditional wedding photo, where the vineyards of San Miguel de Allende are the ideal setting for such an important memory.
