According to a social study called “Hablemos claro por Guanajuato” (Let’s talk clearly for Guanajuato), conducted by the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), 88% of Guanajuato residents feel the level of violence has been increasing drastically during the last days.
Santiago García López, State’s PRI leader, showed the results obtained in this public consultation, in which over eight thousand surveys were applied to determine the citizenship perception in terms of security measures carried out by the state administration.
“According to data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System, the crime incidence has increased around 320% in Guanajuato during the current administration”, informed García López.
He continued: “Almost nine out of ten Guanajuato residents do not have confidence in the State’s Public Ministry, because only ten out of one hundred crimes are officially reported according to the records of the León’s Citizen Observatory (Observatorio Ciudadano de Leon)”.
“The Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System reported that more than one femicide was committed every week during the year 2016, which clearly indicates a lack of protection for women”, added the official.
The PRI leader in Guanajuato underlined: “Things are not doing well… citizens feel insecure, the state government is working very hard but achieving little progress, and despite consecrations to Sacred Heart of Jesus made by the State Governor, corruption and incompetence remain”.
“The civic consultation was carried out to find out the real perception of Guanajuato residents regarding the insecurity in the state, as well as to integrate a general point of view on how the government is working to combat organized crime”.
“It’s the people experiencing this situation who can give us a proper opinion about the ineptitude of the police corporations and government officials. That’s why we decided to carry out this citizenship consultation with the general population”, Santiago García López concluded.
