Four children fall in Guanajuato dam, two survive, one dies and one is still missing

On Sunday July 9, four children went swimming to the Cañada de Negros dam, in Purísima del Rincon, Guanajuato.

Today one of them is dead, other is missing and the other two were taken to a hospital, but are now reported stable.

Purísima del Rincón, Gto., July 10.- The afternoon of Sunday July 9, Civil Protection and Fire Department staff of Purísima del Rincon were given the task of finding the body of a 12 year-old child, who drowned in the dam of Cañada de Negros, where another girl also died.

Two children, 11 and 13 years old, were rescued by two police officers from Purísima del Rincón who were there on their day off, hanging out with their families. However, one of the children did not make it alive out of the water.

The policemen who were resting in that area observed when a man, who was the children’s uncle, asked for help, so they came to his aid.

The uncle was able to save a girl, a policeman took two more girls out of the water, but the other child was nowhere to be found. One of the girls was saved by applying CPR maneuvers but the other one no longer reacted.

Local authorities are still looking for the 12-year-old boy who could not be found.
