GIFF’s Identity and Pertenence Documentary Competition kicks off in Guanajuato

Among mariachi songs, rattle and hum, the documentaries of the Identity and Pertenence Documentary Competition (Concurso Documental Identidad y Pertenencia) were presented as part of the twentieth edition of the International Film Festival of Guanajuato (GIFF).

More than one thousand people cheered the six projects, which were projected in the Auditorium of the University of Guanajuato, an emblematic site almost seventy years old.

State and municipal officials, accompanied by the diplomatic team of the Embassy of Canada, welcomed and acknowledged the work of Sarah Hoch, as the organizer and main promoter of these works within the GIFF.

The general rector of the University of Guanajuato (UG), Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, delivered an emotional message.

Luis Noriega and Jorge Morfin of “Destination Canada” along with the Ambassador of Canada, announced a grand prize consisting in a trip to Canada including airfare and lodging.

Jorge Sánchez Director of IMCINE, announced that next year they will bring to the GIFF the film “These ruins that you see”, that is in restoration.
