Mexico, Jul. 13 (Notimex).- The director general of the Coordination of Foreign Trade Development of the state of Guanajuato (Cofoce, for its acronym), Luis Rojas Ávila, informed that the Mexican state will open its first distribution center for the direct sale of agrofoods in the Canadian market.

During a presentation at the “GO” Business Forum, focused on foreign trade, the local official said they are already working in coordination with ProMexico, the Ministry of Economy, the embassy and the Canadian counterpart.

He added that this is “a very ambitious project, because today we sell to Canadians, but we do it in an indirect way,” and insisted that the agri-food sector “has an enormous potential.”

He said that a Canadian official has already visited Guanajuato and is considering conducting a first pilot test this year, in addition to continuing to work this project for three years, “the intention is that this distribution center can be extended to Montreal and British Columbia”

The pilot test is considered for the Toronto area, and would start with products such as berries, then expanded to others.
