As part of the Guanajuato International Film Festival: GIFF 2017, college students from all over the Mexican Republic compete during a Rally to make a short film in 48 hours.
The IX University Rally kicked off in the middle of the rain and a traffic jam in the city of Guanajuato.
The Rally seeks to promote the development of new talent, and to foster the enthusiasm of young filmmakers for creating innovative projects within the industry.
The six finalists were chosen from 22 states in the country; the finalists embark on the adventure of making a short film within a 48-hour period.
GIFF Director Sarah Hoch, accompanied by state officials, jury and a group of professional musicians, thanked the public’s response and waved the checkered flag to announce the Rally start.
For two days the alleys of Guanajuato will become a great set that will tell a six-minute story.
Professional musicians will be in charge of the musicalization of the projects, which will be screened on Friday July 28 at 8:30 in the evening, at “La Alhóndiga de Granaditas“.
It is worth mentioning that the teams were trained in 24 specialized workshops, by industry experts and filmmakers. Some of the actors that will participate in this Rally are: Christian Chávez, Kristoff Raczynski, among others.
The participating short films are:
- “Las Candelarias” from Centro Universitario de la Costa (Puerto Vallarta)
- “Guía Básica para la muerte perfecta” from Universidad Liceo Quéretaro
- “Lucas El Grande” from Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila
- “Otro Muerto” from Universidad Autónoma de México (UNAM)
- “Los Retratos de Simone” from Universidad Autónoma de Nayarit
- “Vanessa” from Universidad Lamar de Guadalajara.
