“When the current state administration took office, there were just over 21 thousand hotel rooms available in Guanajuato, today there are about 27 thousand, and 55 new hotels are being built in the state”, said the Undersecretary Of Tourist Promotion in the State of Guanajuato, Octavio Aguilar Mata.
In an interview with Organización Editorial Mexicana, the official of the State Secretariat of Tourism stated that this signifies a “growth at a rate higher than 30 percent in terms of hotel capacity.”
“The main cities where the hotel infrastructure has grown is in Celaya, Irapuato, Leon and San Miguel de Allende where a five-star type of tourism infrastructure is being developed.”
“Although, many of these hotels are currently under construction throughout the industrial corridor and not only in tourist areas”, Aguilar Mata mentioned.
A total of 87 new hotels were projected and opened throughout the state during this six-year term.
