Exotic species such as Bears, Elephants, Giraffes, Capuchin Monkeys, Lions, White Tigers, Raccoons, Eagles, Owls, Foxes and even Black Jaguars are some of the animals offered for sale by the Rep Style Leon store, located in León Guanajuato.
Citizens and environmentalists expressed their anger towards this situation in social networks, and red lights were ignited in federal environmental agencies.
Israel Cabrera Barrón, a delegate in Guanajuato of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT), told El Sol de León in an exclusive interview that, although this business has a permit to trade with certain animal species, there is already concern about the type of endangered animals that are being offered.
“Yes, there are many species that are not allowed to keep or reproduce in captivity, and even when this store has authorization permits for the commercialization of certain species, we are conducting an investigation to determine if the permits are still valid and if the species are considered as endangered or not,” said the delegate.
It is worth mentioning that the Rep Style Leon facebook page has been deleted.
