Mayor Ramón Lemus leads reforestation activities in Celaya

Authorities and citizens planted 320 plants of native species of the Laja Bajío region, to rescue the municipal green areas of the “EcoForum” Unidad Deportiva.

As part of the ‘Un Nuevo Bosque‘ campaign promoted nationwide by TV Azteca, Celaya participated with the reforestation of five thousand square meters within the city.

During the start of the reforestation tasks, Mayor Ramón Lemus declared that actions like these are “a celebration to life”, facing adverse situations that are lived around the world (and locally).

“This is a much needed “lung” for Celaya. Today we know that we live in difficult times, we know that violence is making a presence in our daily lives, but we know Celaya is strong and today we want to celebrate life,” said the mayor.

The planted species were: leucaena, timbre, papelillo and palo fierro that are prosperous in this region and particularly in the Celaya soil.

320 different species, for a total of 2,479 plants and trees have been reforested during this year and are part of the 4,255 that will be planted eventually.
