Guadalupe Moreno, an analyst from the World Economic Forum, writes that, according to data from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Mexico is the ninth touristic power in the world, so it is not surprising that it is also the leader of this industry in Latin America.
Thus, as seen in this infographic, in 2015 a total of 32.09 million international tourists visited the country, a figure well above that of its neighbors. In addition, as the same organization says, it is estimated that 79 million people in 2020 and 110 million people in 2030 will choose Latin America as a vacation destination.
The image shows the statistical data about how many people travel to the most visited Latin-American countries.
We can appreciate that the two most visited countries are Mexico and Brazil, but despite the high levels of tourism that both countries receive, it is notable that Mexico hosts far more tourists than any other Latin-American country. That makes Mexico the number one Latin-American tourist destination.
Also we can see that the expectations are to increase the visits to the region in 79 million tourists for 2020 and in 110 million tourists for 2030.
