LEÓN, Gto .- As part of an operation carried out by federal authorities, a plane transporting a large amount of drugs was secured. The events occurred in Vergel de la Sierra, Guanajuato.
In response to a citizen complaint, personnel from the Federal Police and SEDENA went to this place where they found a clandestine airstrip, at the community of “Sierra de Lobos” in the municipality of San Felipe, Guanajuato.
As authorities arrived on scene, they managed to locate a Cesna type airplane with two people onboard, as they checked the inside of the plane, they found several packages closed with tape.
Authorities announced that the packages contianed a white powder with the characteristics of cocaine.
Preliminary information indicates that 400 kilos of this illegal substance were found inside the aircraft, that could cost more than 50 million pesos (2.8 million USD) in the black market.
