Earthquake Information for Canadians in Mexico

INFORMATION FOR CANADIAN CITIZENS IN MEXICO

On September 19, 2017, a 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck 60 km southeast of Mexico City.

If you are in or around the affected areas, monitor local media for the latest developments and follow the instructions of local authorities.

At the moment, phone lines in Mexico City are down, Canadian citizens requiring emergency consular assistance can contact the Emergency Watch and Response Centre (EWRC) in Ottawa by calling the following toll free number from anywhere within the country of Mexico, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week:
