Shooting in Guanajuato donation center leaves one dead, three injured

On Friday September 22, gunmen got out of a van and began firing at a donation center that was set up in Cerro Gordo, Salamanca, to support those affected by the earthquake in Mexico City, Morelos and Puebla.

According to local media, the armed attack was directed at Jean Paul Muñiz Hernández, a rural delegate from the San Felipe de Jesús community in the municipality of Salamanca, Guanajuato; who was officially declared deseased minutes later at a local hospital; besides, two children and a young man who were participating in this altruistic work were wounded.

Muñiz Hernández coordinated the work of gathering supplies to support the victims of the earthquake of 19 September.

The newspaper AM reported that  around 4:47 pm on Friday a group of at least five armed men showed up at the scene, got out of a vehicle and shot the rural delegate at point blank, a 12-year-old girl, a 6-year-old boy and a 16-year-old teenager, were also injured during the attack. No arrest have been made so far regarding this tragic incident.
