California fires harm Napa and Sonoma Counties’ vineyards and tourism

Even though the fire hasn’t gotten to the Cameros region vineyards, between de limits of Napa and Sonoma, the wine industry business men are already suffering the consequences.

The main affectation for this industry has been the sales decrease, as consequence of the low touristic flow, which is their main profit source according to news reports.

So far, it is known that at least one thousand constructions, houses and businesses have burned down, but the vineyards in Sonoma and Napa haven’t been harmed by the fires.

But even when the flames don’t arrive, economic loss is present because the businesses in the zone dependof the wine sales and, since the vineyards have been closed, there aren’t any visitors nor sales.

One of the most affected cities has been Santa Rosa, located in Sonoma County where some of its neighborhoods have been vanquished by the fire, so the region business people are worried by the effect the images of the fires may have on the tourism flow.

“We are going to recover because everything is intact, but all these people but all those pople who make a living of the touristic attractions such as restaurants, warehouses, vineyard fields, they are going to suffer more due toi the visitors scarcity”, said Amelia Morán Ceja.

“Before the fires broke out, the vineyards and wine tasting halls were crowded and now they are deserted”, Morán Ceja concluded.
