According to the Cozumel Sun, on the morning of Tuesday, October 23, Cozumel Island welcomed with open arms the Peace Boat Cruise, an emblematic transatlantic cruise that fosters peace and shares with the world the experiences that marked the lives of Hiroshima and Nagasaki residents, survivors of an event that shocked the whole human race, and marked the end of World War II in 1945.
Peace Boat‘s first voyage was organized in 1983 by a group of Japanese university students as a creative response to government censorship regarding Japan’s past military aggression in the Asia-Pacific. They chartered a ship to visit neighboring countries with the aim of learning first-hand about the war from those who experienced it and initiating people-to-people exchange.
Today, all their activities are based on the philosophy that any problem faced by any community is a global challenge that must be tackled through cooperation between people, organizations and governments of the world.

The exhibitors enjoyed their stay in the Island, always sharing their experience, as the Peace Boat navigates to promote peace, human rights, fair and sustainable development and respect for the environment, with the aim of creating and promoting awareness and preparing the younger generations for the constant social and political changes in our world.

Different areas make up the ship  and decorations contain message of peace. There are areas of relaxation and meditation.
There is an auditorium for exhibitions used to promote positive social and political changes, aimed to implement best practices in responsible tourism.
The Peace Boat creates a neutral and mobile space that allows its participants to cross borders and initiate links of cooperation and dialogue at open sea and in the ports they visit.
