Celaya students win third place in the WER 2017 World Robotics Tournament in Shanghai

The team of Celaya students from the Club de Leones that participated in the WER 2017 World Robotics Tournament in Shanghai-China, obtained the third place in the best international school category, first place in video and 90th place in Robotics, among 2,400 participating schools.

The three girls that make up the Celayense team had to leave their hobbies and dedicate long hours to practice and study, and thus were placed among the best teams in the world.

There are two teams from Celaya that participated in the WER 2017 World Robotics Tournament held in Shanghai-China, on November 18 and 19.

Three girls from the primary school Club de Leones and three teenagers from the Otilio E. Montaño secondary school in San Juan de la Vega were representing Guanajuato.

From the elementary school Club de Leones in the Celaya downtown area the participants are: Michelle Alejandra Barrera Olalde, Jacqueline Molina Gómez and Damaris Sarahy García Nieves; the tutor of the team was professor Celestino Avecillas Cortés.

 

From the Otilio E. Montaño High School in San Juan de la Vega the participants are: Sara Stephanie Vázquez Ortiz, Saúl Hernández Ramos and Alfonso López Arias; and the tutor of the team was professor Ulises Aguilar Vega.

The students said that months ago they were told that they would be able participate in a robotics contest in the state, because they had had good results in math competitions.
