The Government of the State of Guanajuato has shown interest in the Chinese automotive company, BAIC. Guanajuato wants the company to build its second production plant in Mexico within their state and have six automobile manufacturing plants in the near future.
So far, it is known that officials of the Government of the State of Guanajuato have already presented to the executives of that automotive company their intentions to choose this state to build their new production plant, which will be added to the one they already have in the State of Veracruz.
However, Guanajuato is now competing against the states of Nuevo Leon, Morelos, Hidalgo, Quintana Roo and Sonora which have also expressed interest in the BAIC new facilities.
The new production plant of BAIC is estimated to start production in 2020 and this would strengthen the export markets of South America and North America.
According to the representative of this corporation in Mexico, Jimena Sáenz, the new production plant that they plan to build in Mexico includes the installation of an operations center, an innovation center and a development center.
So far this year, BAIC has managed to place a little more than 500 units in the Mexican market and it is estimated that by the end of this year they will exceed 1,000 units sold; in Mexico they have 16 agencies and have models D20, X25 and BJ40, while before the end of 2017 there will also be an SUV X55 truck.
The expansion of the Chinese automaker in Mexico will bring new SUV models next year: the X55, the D50 turbo and the SUV BJ20.
