Expert shares knowledge on SMA’s Indigenous and Spanish Roots
If it feels as if you just can’t cram one more thing into your holiday season, consider this: By attending Rotary Tuesday, December 19, you could learn about SMA’s indigenous and Spanish roots, buy holiday gifts, and benefit Rotary’s community service, all in one hour!
Come to Rotary when local tour guide, author and San Miguel Times’ top contributor Joseph Toone will entertain you with his stories and offer his many books for your holiday gift-giving. Twenty percent of all sales will benefit local Rotary community service projects such as clean water, libraries, and hospice care. The meeting will be at 12:30 p.m. at Hotel Mision, Salida a Queretaro 1.
Toone will share insights about holiday traditions including the celebrations of Saint Nicholas, the Virgin of Guadalupe and Three Kings’ Day. He will answer questions about the processions, plays, pinatas and paintings that symbolize the holiday season in this area. He is known for his wry wit, and his expertise in the area of SMA’s indigenous and Spanish roots.
Toone is the best-selling author of a series of books called San Miguel’s Secrets. The books cover subjects such as Christmas, Day of the Dead, SMA history and culture, and Easter. He has two new books on tours in the SMA area and living in SMA. He is SMA’s top-rated history and culture walking tour guide.
