PEMEX pipeline explodes in Villa de Cárdenas, Guanajuato

Fuel theft in a clandestine outlet caused an explosion and fire in a pipeline of Petróleos Mexicanos in the community of Villa de Cárdenas, Guanajuato, which mobilized the military, personnel of Civil Protection and experts of the Physical Force of Pemex.
The explosion destroyed three trucks that were allegedly used by ‘huachicoleros‘ (fuel thieves).

The Municipal Civil Protection Unit reported that at 8:00 am on Tuesday December 12 it was reported that a pipeline was in flames, so they immediately moved to the site for the implementation of the corresponding security protocols.

According to the anonymous call, several men were seen in the area, in illegal oil extraction maneuvers at broad daylight.

When firefighters and Municipal Civil Protection personnel arrived on the scene, they found a column of fire of about 20 meters high and noticed three burning trucks, in which containers that presumably were used for the transfer of the fuel.

The fire was controlled around noon, and no casualties or injuries were registered.
