Unlike most Mexican states, executions and violent murders are not “business as usual” in Yucatan. And at the end of 2017, two unsolved crimes shock the safest state in the country.
The lifeless body of Imelda A. T. B., 26 years old was found inside a plastic bag in the town of Oxcutzcab, Yucatan on December 21 with a shot to the head. The corpse was located by police officers on the Oxkutzcab-San Antonio Kucheil road.
The body was delivered on Saturday December 23 to the victim’s mother, Angelica M. B., who previously could not recognize her daughter, but finally identified her by two tattoos that were still visible on one of her arms.
The body, confirmed the Attorney General’s Office, received a direct shot to the skull, with a low-caliber weapon, and the bullet was found in the victim’s cranial cavity. However, the cause of death was certified as strangulation.
The alleged boyfriend of the victim, Emmanuel U. U., is nowhere to be found, and so far he has not appeared before the authorities to make his official statement, which makes him one of the main suspects.
Imelda was seen alive for the last time on December 14, when she was on her way to a party in her hometown Oxkutzcab.

On another incident, agents of the State Attorney General’s Office and other police corporations of Yucatán announced the finding of a dismembered human body inside a plastic bag in the Chelem dump on Thursday December 28, around 8 pm.
According to the report, the bag was found in the dump located by the side of the road that connects the coastal town of Chelem with Chuburná Puerto.
Shortly after the finding was confirmed, forensic experts of the Prosecutor’s Office proceeded to the removal of human remains and initiated the relevant legal inquiries at the crime scene.
So far, state authorities have not issued any information on the deceased identity.
