Vicente Fox Quesada, former president of Mexico, plans to hold the “First Global Cannabis Forum in Mexico” in Guanajuato in the month of May, in order to “open up” the discussion about the legal industry and trade of marijuana in our country.
This was announced by the PAN this Wednesday January 10, through a video broadcast on social networks, where the ex-president said that for this event he has planned to try different approaches to the plant: “its medicinal and recreational use, scientific and research aspects, legal, ethical and moral features, market opportunities; and experiences with legalization in other countries. ”

Fox Quesada has stated that the legalization of the use of cannabis in Mexico is an effective way to combat the high rates of violence that have been registered in the country, especially during 2017.

For the former president (2000-2006), legalizing marijuana would solve the problems of insecurity in the country, since it would entail “the drug trafficking activity to be regulated” and the income of this activity could be “inspected and regulated.”

The publication generated criticisms and comments in social networks; for example, one person asked Fox why this idea did not occur when he was president, another accused him of diverting attention with “silly” proposals, while others congratulated him for this “initiative”.
