Guanajuato ranks first at national level in fuel theft

Local representatives consider a very serious problem the fact that the state of  Guanajuato occupies the inglorious 1st place nationally in fuel theft. They also agreed that authorities at all levels have failed and it is urgent to legislate on the issue.

Guanajuato eneded 2017 as the leader in clandestine tappings on PEMEX pipelines, with 1,852 reports stateside. Followed by Puebla, with 1,443; Tamaulipas, with 1,100; Hidalgo, with 1,064; Veracruz, with 1,012; and the State of Mexico, with 976.

During 2016, Guanajuato ranked second in the nation, with 1,309 reports, below Puebla, so the numbers reflect an increase of 42%, from 2016 to 2017, when there a total of 10,363 clandestine outlets were detected throughout the country.

This crime has been committed in 25 out of the 32 Mexican states.
