Osamu Houikida was introduced as the new Consul of Japan in the city of León, Guanajuato and in addition to highlighting the industrial growth of the state, Houikida asked Mayor Héctor López Santillana to guarantee the security of all members of the Japanese community.
The official presentation of the new Consul took place in the City Hall, with the presence of Ramón Alfaro, State Secretary of Economy; Gloria Cano, State Tourism Secretary; Omar Silva, Municipal Director of Innovation and representative Betty Yamomoto.
Osamu Houikida stated that five thousand Japanese citizens live currently in the Bajío region, and a total of 600 companies from that country are now established in the State of Guanajuato.
He mentioned that, in the last four years, the foreign direct investment in Central Mexico increased 4 time,s and the Japanese community grew 2.5 times. Finally, the new Consul announced that 10 more Japanese companies are already confirmed to arrive in León this year.
