S.O.M.E continues the feed the body and the spirit as well

In 1989 two passionate volunteers, Joe and Antoinette Lim, identified a need in this community and set out to meet it; that was to provide a healthy meal for elderly citizens. The idea came from Antoinette who began visiting the elderly and distributing food in her native Philippines when she was very young.

Since its founding here in San Miguel de Allende, the SOME (So Others May Eat) program, with the help of many volunteers, has served hundreds of thousands of meals to poor seniors in the courtyard of the patio of the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel.

Antoinette Lim passed away in 2016 but every Wednesday SOME continues to serve the needy who are in the “tercera edad.” Because of the commitment of her daughter Dra. Grace Lim, a physician who moved to San Miguel de Allende from Mexico City with her husband when her mother became ill. Grace stayed here after her mother’s passing to make sure that SOME continued and  has expanded the program to include geriatric health talks to help inform the elderly on issues that would concern them most.

Join us Tuesday, February 20 to meet Dra. Lim and hear about a program that has changed lives.
