Austrian Wollsdorf Leather to invest 20 million USD on Leon’s new plant

Wollsdorf Leather, tanning company from Austria, will install its new headquarters in León, Guanajuato, to manufacture their premium brand leather products for the automotive, furniture and aerospace industries, and the company will invest 20 million dollars in the construction of their plant on a land of 28,500 square meters, in the Parque Piel industrial park.

According to Andreas Kindermann, CEO of the company, the plant in León has two objectives, the first is to complement the Austria production and the second to expand its client base.

Kindermann pointed out that León was selected because it is the area where leather is manufactured: the industry is wide, there are small to large tanneries, and chemical supply is nearby.

During the first phase, the tannery will produce 5 thousand leather pieces per week, until they reach a weekly production capacity of 15 thousand pieces. At that time, the workforce will be generating 200 direct jobs.

75% of its production is focused on the automotive sector, 20% on furniture and about 5% on the aeronautical sector, in fact, Wollsdorf Leather is known as the largest producer of leather for steering wheels in the world.
