In an operation carried out on Tuesday March 20, by agents of the Federal Police in coordination with Querétaro authorities, Luis Alberto Blanco Flores, better known as “El Pelochas” or “El M28“, was arrested. He is considered the leader of the Gulf Cartel in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, for whom the government of Mexico offered a reward of two million pesos (approx. $200,000 USD).
The first investigations of the Federal Police indicated that Luis Alberto was probably hiding in Querétaro. This man is one of the main generators of violence and insecurity in northern Tamaulipas.
His capture was achieved through a domestic violence complaint. The man was arrested on site, and immediately placed under custody of the Federal Public Ministry, attached to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Investigation in Organized Crime (SEIDO) of the PGR, where he continues to be investigated.
“El M28“, was wanted in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, along with El Betillo and El Panilo and a reward of two million pesos was offered for each one o them one year ago.
El Panilo was found dead in Reynosa back on April 23 2017, and El Betillo was killed in a confrontation with the Federal Police, also in Reynosa on January 28, 2018.
