Apaseo el Alto, Gto.- On Wednesday March 21 the craftsman week (Semana del Artesano) will start in Apaseo el Alto, featuring the thirty-first annual wood carving contest, where there will be cash prizes for the different categories.
The City of Apaseo el Alto, Guanajuato is expecting the participation of more than 50 artisans from all over the state.
Municipal president, Miguel Angel Sanchez announced that the week of the craftsman will last 6 days, from Wednesday March 21 to Monday March 26 March.
“Wood carving is a characteristic activity of this municipality that has become an important part of our identity”, he explained.
“We are also expecting contestants from other countries, which will make this year’s contest much more competitive, as we have managed to get more artisans interested to participate, thanks to the cash prizes,” Miguel Angel Sanchez added.
The registration of approximately 50 exhibitors is expected, with 150 different pieces in exhibition.
