Guanajuato is the state of the country with the lowest level of victims of acts of corruption, with a rate of 9,000 people per 100,000 inhabitants, according to the National Survey of Quality and Government Impact (ENCIG) 2017.
Results of exercise carried out by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI):
- Queretaro reported a level of 11,800 victims per 100 thousand inhabitants; and,
- Aguascalientes 14 thousand 600 victims per 100 thousand inhabitants.
- San Luis Potosí registered 16, 700 victims per 100 thousand inhabitants
Mexico City, Quintana Roo, and Morelos, came up on top of the list:
- Mexico City 20,100 corruption victims per 100 thousand inhabitants
- Quintana Roo 17,600 corruption victims per 100 thousand inhabitants
- Morelos 17,200 corruption victims per 100 thousand inhabitants
National average: 14,600 corruption victims per 100 thousand inhabitants.
Guanajuato, with the lowest number of corruption victims in the country
INEGI indicates that during 2017, corruption was once again in the second place of the problems that concern citizens the most.
The percentage of the population concern about corruption went from 50.9%, in general terms, in 2015 to 56.7% in 2017.
- Guanajuato reported a rate of 13,200 acts of corruption per 100,000 inhabitants
- Colima with 12,600 acts of corruption per 100,000 inhabitants
- Queretaro registered 20,700 acts of corruption per 100,000 inhabitants
- Aguascalientes, 24,400 acts of corruption per 100,000 inhabitants
- San Luis Potosí presented 28,000 acts of corruption per 100,000 inhabitants
In the country, the average is 25, 500 acts of corruption per 100,000 inhabitants.
At the national level, the highest percentage in experiences of corruption was estimated in contact with public security authorities (police), with 59.5% of cases; followed by the procedures related to permits for land use, demolition or construction; requests for proof of freedom of encumbrance or other procedures in the Public Property Registry with 30.7%.
