Air cargo grows by 33.1% at Querétaro’s Intercontinental Airport

“The Intercontinental Airport of Querétaro (AIQ) registered a cargo volume of 3,015 tons in February 2018, which is 33.1 percent more compared to the same month last year”, states the Directorate General of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC).

The data issued by the federal agency indicates that of the total, 1,695.2 tons -56 percent- correspond to domestic load. This segment had an increase of 30.9 percent per year in the second month of this year.

Queretaro participates with 7 percent of the airport market in domestic cargo transportation.

According to the DGAC, the state is located in the fifth place among the air terminals of the country with the highest volume of national cargo in February 2018.

In the first places are the International Airport of Mexico City, with a domestic cargo volume of 7,532 tons; the International Airport of Guadalajara, with 2,890 tons; San Luis Potosí, with 2,053 tons, and the Tijuana International Airport, with 1,850 tons.

Regarding the international cargo, the Querétaro airport reported a volume of 1,320 tons in the second month of February 2018, which represented 36.2 percent more compared to February 2017.

Businessmen and authorities agree that these results consolidate Querétaro as a prominent logistics point at national level.
