In the first three months of 2018, Guanajuato is positioned as the state with the highest figure of violent mortal victims.
Data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System indicates that from January to March this year, there is a total of 741 fatal victims, including men, women and children.
Guanajuato is above Baja California, Guerrero and the State of Mexico, which regularly come up on top of the list.
Regarding the number of criminal files opened for intentional homicide, the state is in third place with 552 cases. It is only exceeded by Baja California with 601 and Guerrero with 572.
Most of the victims are men. The violence in the first three months of the year was mainly against males, for a total of 653, 88 of the murdered people are women, including eight cases of femicide.
But the most dramatic situation is the fact that 33 of the fatal victims are children and teenagers; 25 boys and 8 girls.
