Background Information:
A few days ago, Trump signed a $1.6 billion omnibus spending bill that funds the construction of 33 new miles of border walls, with no protections or renewed status for Dreamers. Construction begins this month and will add to the over 650 miles of barriers dividing communities, running through public lands and natural refuges, while disrupting wildlife migration patterns.
Because of a provision in the Real ID Act, the border wall is entirely absent of public comment periods or environmental impact assessments, depriving borderland communities of wildlife protections and clean air and water safeguards. These safeguards are guaranteed to the rest of the country.
