Querétaro second place at national level with the highest hotel occupancy

Querétaro is already the second best destination in Central Mexico’s Bajío region, in terms of hotel occupancy with 61%, second only to San Luis Potosí, which reports a 63% occupancy.

According to data issued by the Federal Sectur Statistical System, in the first half of June the city of Querétaro went from being the fourth to the second position at national level, which is shared with the city of Puebla.

On this situation, the Secretary of State Tourism, Hugo Burgos Garcia reported that this achievement is the result of joint work between authorities and employers and their confidence to continue promoting the state.

Based on statistical data from the Federal Ministry of Tourism, the city of Querétaro ranks as the second destination preferred by visitors, followed by Mérida, Yucatán and Aguascalientes with 60% hotel occupancy.

It is worth remembering that as May 2017, Queretaro reported a level of occupation of 59% against 69% of San Luis Potosí. Achieving this time an increase while San Luis Potosí showed a smaller growth.

The state official highlighted the connectivity that Queretaro has, which is reflected in the tourism activity and shows that at the end of 2017, 2.4 million tourists visited the state, leaving an economic impact of more than 11 billion pesos.

“This speaks to us not only about the way they are looking at Querétaro beyond our border, but also about the confidence and commitment that entrepreneurs in the tourism sector have with  Querétaro,” he concluded.
