The total exports of the state of Guanajuato broke record in 2017, adding 23.8 million US dollars, informed the Coordinator of Promotion to Foreign Trade (Cofoce).
34 municipalities of the entity participated in obtaining this result, with the generation of 189,000 jobs and with products that were exported to 147 countries throughout the world.
“The international merchandise trade of the state positioned Guanajuato in the seventh place among the entities of the country with the highest export figures”, said Luis Ernesto Rojas Ávila, general director of Cofoce.
“Guanajuato is a state that has been working on the export and internationalization of its local products and companies for more than 25 years,” he said.
In the international promotion, 266 export companies from 19 municipalities were benefited through the project Impulse your Company Abroad, which allowed them to participate in international fairs, business tours and global consulting.
Cofoce also worked on the attraction of 129 buyers from the United States, Costa Rica, Australia, Guatemala, Canada, Puerto Rico, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Panama, Japan, England, Colombia, Spain and France.
During 2017, 109 new companies from Guanajuato were incorporated into the process of preparation and adaptation for export; while in the process of international promotion, 81 new exporting companies were created that placed their products in 26 countries.
Additionally, it was possible to link 56 young people from different universities of the state in the integration of 10 export projects for different companies, thus strengthening the relationship between the academy and the productive sectors.
“We want to continue growing the same in the volume of exports, as in the number of new export companies, and all this is closely linked to being focused on enhancing the competitiveness of companies in international markets,” said Rojas Ávila.
