Mexican journalist Rubén Pat murdered in Playa del Carmen

On Tuesday July 24th, around 6 o’clock in the morning, the journalist Rubén Pat Cahuich, owner of the Semanario Playa News web portal , was executed in the downtown area of ​​Playa del Carmen, according to an official statement issued by the City Council of Solidaridad.

The press release says that the execution occurred outside a bar and that the case, has been turned to the State Attorney General.

According to Public Safety information, Rubén Pat was attacked at 5:48 in the morning when he was outside the bar known as “Arre“, which is located on Av. Juárez, (between Av. 20 and Av. 25), Colonia Centro of Playa del Carmen.

The first reports indicate that an unidentified man wearing a green cap shot Pat at point blank and fled the scene on foot.

The Attorney General of the State (PGE), announced that they will initiate with the corresponding investigations to find those responsible for Pat’s murder.

On Friday, June 29, reporter José Guadalupe Chan, also a collaborator of the Semanario Playa News was killed in Felipe Carrillo Puerto., Quintana Roo. José Guadalupe Chan received four gunshots when he was inside the premises of the “La Baticueva” bar.
