Strengths Based Leadership & Team Building

”Most Americans do not know what their strengths are. When you ask them, they look at you with a blank stare, or they respond in terms of subject knowledge, which is the wrong answer.” –Peter Drucker

Most of us have little sense of our talents and strengths, much less the ability to build our lives around them. We’ve become experts on our weaknesses and spend our lives trying to repair these flaws while our strengths lie dormant and neglected.

Cheetahs can swim and will, if they have to, but it isn’t something they would ever choose to do or ever do well – no matter how hard they try. Now, ask them to run, well, now, that’s a whole different story.

But just as a Cheetah will never be a good swimmer – focusing on our weaknesses will never give us the payoff that we can get from turning the same attention to our natural talents and turning them into strengths.

Each person you meet has specific talents which they do with the grace of a running cheetah. These talents are as natural to them as breathing. But unless they are identified, supported, with knowledge and skill, they will not become strengths. Without these strengths being realized, neither you or your team can ever reach full potential.
