Airbnb generates 26 billion pesos in Mexico: Industry Trend Net

According to Industry Trend Net, between January and June of this year, the community of hosts and travelers of Airbnb generated an economic activity in the country for more than 26 billion pesos (US $1.39 billion), a number that adds the profits of hosts with guest expenses.

The platform that connects travelers with people looking to rent a space, said that the spill in Mexico is equivalent to the construction of 1,500 kilometers of road.

It explained that, specifically the summer of this year, it was a great season for the Mexican community, since in destinations across the country, Airbnb hosts opened their homes and neighborhoods to more than one million travelers between June and August.

Adding the amounts of the five states that received more visitors through the platform during the summer, Airbnb hosts earned more than 400 million pesos ,they said.

The company recalled that Airbnb hosts set the prices of the ads that go up to the platform; 97 percent of the price of each reservation made on your property goes directly to your wallets.

Baja California Sur, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Mexico City and Quintana Roo, were the states that received more travelers through Airbnb during the summer of 2018, while the most requested cities were Puerto Vallarta, Mexico City, San Miguel de Allende, Cancun and Playa del Carmen.

Airbnb stressed that in Mexico, hosts and travelers are using this technology as an inclusion tool to keep their homes afloat and to travel more, proof of this is that more than half of the elderly who used the platform to plan their trips Summer, they did it for the first time, also, they planned the longest trips, with six nights on average.
