Catando México 2018: wine, history and culture in Guanajuato

Luis Felipe Bravo Mena, representative of the government of the state of Guanajuato in Mexico City, announced that the event “Catando México Edición 2018” will be held on November 23 and 24 in the historical center of Guanajuato Capital.

“An event that invites us to taste the flavors of Mexican wines, from November 23 to 24, with 61 producers from all over the country and 30 exhibitors of handicrafts and different activities,” said Bravo Mena.

Juan Manuel Rendón López, Director of Tourism Promotion of the Office of Conventions and Visitors (OCV) Guanajuato, reported that in the wine festival that brings together the best winemakers in eight states of the country, which are: Baja California, Querétaro, Aguascalientes , Chihuahua, San Luis Potosí, Zacatecas and Guanajuato.

Rendón López assured that the state is ready to receive domestic and foreign tourists “with all our gastronomic, cultural and historical attractions that give strength to the state capital. Catando México, is an event where you can perfectly combine gastronomy, culture and history “.

He stressed that for the eighth consecutive year, the Historic Center of the City of Guanajuato becomes a gastronomic and cultural corridor that celebrates the best of the wine culture.

As part of the Catando México program, two pairing dinners will be held:

On Friday Nov. 23 with the participation of Chef Alonso Domínguez of the restaurant Nextia in San Miguel de Allende, who will offer a 4-course menu in combination with four wine producing houses: Hacienda de Guadalupe (BC), Don Leo Wines (Coahuila), Emevé (Baja California) and Henri Lurton (Baja California).

On Saturday the 24th, a joint collaboration between 2 chefs: Javier Hernández from the Mestizo restaurant and Domingo Martínez from the Amatxi restaurant, offering a 6-course menu in combination with 6 wine production houses: Vinos de la Reina (Baja California), Ojos Negros (Baja California), Villa Montefiori (Baja California), Relief (Baja California), El Cielo (Baja California) and Don Leo (Coahuila).
