More than 20.5 million tourists visited the state of Guanajuato during the first 8 months of 2018, generating more than 57 billion pesos in economic income, showing a positive variation of 7% compared to 2017.
The State Secretariat of Tourism, through the Directorate General of Planning announced these figures that are part of the Tourist Activity during 2018.
From January to August, the state registered the arrival of more than 3.8 million tourists in hotels, which represents an increase of 7% compared to the same period last year, with an average hotel occupancy of 45%.
In the same months, 1.5 million international passengers arrived at the Bajío International Airport (BJX), a figure that represents 21% more travelers compared to 2017.
The main international markets for the state of Guanajuato to the month of August are the United States, Canada and Colombia; while the nationals are Mexico City (CDMX), Querétaro and Jalisco.
In this same advance, the lodging has a satisfaction index of 8.6, representing the best qualified category in the state.
In August, 2.5 million visitors and 481,514 tourists arrived in the state of Guanajuato, both figures reflect a percentage of more than 4% compared to the same month last year.
The archaeological zones: El Cóporo, Plazuelas, Peralta, Cañada de La Virgen and Arroyo Seco, registered in the first 8 months the visit of 56,394 people. While the Guanajuato Bicentennial Park received from January to August more than 94,000 people.
Finally, the State Ministry of Tourism announced that León, Guanajuato, Celaya, Irapuato, Salamanca, San Miguel de Allende, Dolores Hidalgo and Silao are the most visited tourist destinations.
