Woman entrepreneur murdered by ‘Huachicoleros’ in Irapuato

The Attorney General’s Office of the State (PGJE) stated that the homicide of hotel entrepreneur Elisa Serna on December 10 near the community of Coecillo, in Irapuato, Guanajuato, was carried out by a criminal group dedicated to the theft of fuel, commonly known as “huachicoleros”.

In an interview, Sofía Huett López, commissioner of the Analysis Unit for Citizen Security, reported that, derived from the various investigations carried out by elements of the PGJE on the scene, it was possible to detect a building which was used to store stolen fuel.

Inside the building were two people, one of them dead, which, as reported by Huett López, in addition to their probable participation in other homicides, they could’ve participated in the murder of Elisa Serna.

The attorney general in Guanajuato, Carlos Zamarripa Aguirre said that although the motive of the murder has not been fully clarified, it was determined that the crime was committted by a group dedicated to the theft and transfer of fuel who murdered the businesswoman.

He also reported that the van in which the assassins made the attack was already secured, and the weapons were found inside, he mentioned that two people possibly linked to the murder are already being investigated.

Zamarripa said that one of the main signs to detect the property was Serna’s camera, which contained images where evidence was found that these properties were used as storage for stolen fuel.

This despite the fact that businessman Roberto Marrufo Sada asked the prosecutor Carlos Zamarripa Aguirre not to reveal details of the investigation until he got to the bottom and find out the motive of this murder.

“All businessmen ask the attorney to investigate thoroughly and not release information until they are certain about the motive, so they do not hesitate to get to the bottom of this and apply the law,” said the businessman also president of the Fecanaco.
